Pikme is a project by The Ageing Revolution. The Ageing Revolution is a profit for purpose organisation that challenges ageism in all its forms. The pikme image gallery shows older Australians in a different light, highlighting the true diversity of ageing in Australia. Pikme works with a group of selected photographers to take photos of older people that are contemporary and inspiring.

Experienced Hands

Hands are so often the go-to image to depict dependency especially in later life – disembodied and frail, they are used to other the process of ageing.

This collection of hand images by Max Conaghan is our response to this stereotype. It is a tribute to the experienced and skilled hands of olders; hands that are active, capable and lively, no matter their age.
